The Shanghai Bo Ai Children's Rehabilitation Centre provides rehabilitation and special education services for children with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. Our students range between three and fourteen years old, with more than half residing at the Centre year-round. Since its founding in April 1996, the Bo Ai Centre has always been operated by compassionate local workers who are trained to care according to international best practices.
The centre accommodates twenty-eight full-time borders along with 12 day borders. As Shanghai’s first non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to the care of children afflicted by cerebral palsy, the Bo Ai Centre pioneered the adoption of physical therapy and special education best practices from the world’s leading research Centres.

About Our Founder
The Bo Ai Children's Centre was founded by Gao Yali in 1996. As the mother of a child with cerebral palsy, Gao felt it was her obligation to provide her son with proper physical therapy and special education. After learning the best practices from physical therapists in Australia and the United States, Gao realized that many other children in China could benefit from the therapy. Obtaining the funds from friends and family, Gao launched the Bo Ai Centre in 1996 and continues to direct the program.
